With winter fast approaching, skiers took to Skye Canyon for the second annual Pray for Snow Party. It was a time to collectively cross our fingers for piles of the good stuff, and celebrate ski season with an off-mountain après-ski party – complete with live music, lawn games, fire pits, and a snow-themed selfie station. And, the last chance to purchase discount season passes for nearby Lee Canyon.
Guests brought their appetite, and enjoyed new takes on traditional mountainside treats like gourmet chili, hot chocolate, and toasty s’mores cookies from The Cookie Bar dessert truck. And vendor village featured the latest and greatest gear for the upcoming season, from winter sports fan-favorites Burton and Stone Sports, to other outdoor organizations such as Century Link, Go Mt. Charleston and BARK (Bristlecone Avalanche Rescue K9’s).
Everyone who joined the party was encouraged to bring canned food to benefit the Las Vegas food bank: Three Square – which resulted in over 300 collected donations. Each can was redeemed for an entry into a drawing for amazing prizes, such as a Snow Cabana Day at Lee Canyon including lift tickets and a $300 food and beverage credit, Skye Canyon North Face jackets, and pairs of 2017/2018 lift tickets. Local brewery Tenaya Creek offered a selection of their craft beers with all proceeds from sales going towards Three Square, which brought in over $600.
Thanks to everyone who came out and joined the fun, here’s to a wonderful ski season!
