Home / Blog / Chalk + Cheers: Walking Tour Edition Showcased Colorful Displays of Happiness

Mindful of health and safety protocols, this year’s juried art competition may have looked a little different but what remained the same was that participants and attendees all enjoyed a day outdoors at Skye Canyon Park filled with colorful chalk art, food, drinks and family fun. Nearly 40 artists ranging in skill levels competed for top honors in three categories including high school student, amateur and professional.

With participating artists safely spread out throughout the perimeter of the park, a designated walking path was created for spectators to view the vibrant and inspiring art works. Attendees voted electronically and images of each piece were uploaded so the public could enjoy the artistic creations and get in on the voting fun too.

This year’s contest theme was “My Happy Place.” The resulting designs were certainly something to smile about as the artists created a variety of works and perfectly interpreted sources of joy, happiness, and the power of uplifting creativity as they vied for top honors and cash prizes.

Amazon gift card prizes were awarded in each category with $250 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. Additionally, $100 Amazon gift card prizes were offered for one winner of Best 3D piece and of Best use of Color. As in previous years, attendees and online voters selected the People’s Choice Winner, for a $300 award.
