There is no shortage of creativity and artistic talent in Skye Canyon as residents recently put their imaginative skills on display in their driveways this year in celebration of Earth Day 2021 and the 2nd annual Chalk for Earth community event.
With a theme of Restore Our Earth, Chalk for Earth was a challenge that the family could do together – and they sure did. Providing an opportunity to show community spirit and get creative, the socially distant and family friendly sidewalk chalk challenge invited residents to create an earth-themed chalk masterpiece on the sidewalk or in the driveway of their house. For residents who needed chalk, free chalk was distributed at Skye Fitness. Upon completing their chalk work of art, participants then uploaded their submission to the Skye Canyon website for entry in a contest. Prizes were awarded in three categories: Family, Adult Solo and People’s Choice. All participants received a commemorative Chalk For Earth 2021 event pin to add to their growing collection.
Dozens of entries were submitted, and the creativity was inspiring with chalk masterworks depicting a variety of animals, colorful trees and nature, the earth, sky, and more were presented.
