It was the ultimate day of fitness and family fun as more than 400 racers of all skill levels braved the wind to take part in Skye Canyon’s annual Fit Fest 2023. It was an exciting day as racers ranging from novices to trailblazers to those just seeking a stroll enjoyed a day of racing and fitness-focused fun including a Wellness Festival at Skye Canyon Park.

Through Skye Serves, a branch of the Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation (OCCF), 100% of the proceeds from racer registration were donated to Kline Veterans Fund. The well-attended event raised a whopping $13,000 for the charitable organization that provides financial assistance and other support to homeless, at-risk, and indigent veterans and their families in Southern Nevada.

The crisp day began with the presentation of the colors by UNLV Air Force ROTC Honor Guard followed by a rousing rendition of the national anthem as sung by local Nikki Preston. The day kicked off with an opening ceremony and a warmup by Club Pilates marking the start of the 5k/8k Road Race and the 1-Mile Fun Run.

The wellness celebration continued with a cool down by YogaSix and an awards ceremony. The day also included yoga and guided meditation by Skye Fitness. There was plenty for the kids to do including a rock wall, an inflatable obstacle course, and games. Racers refueled after the run with fare from local favorite food trucks including Taco Ave and The Dapper Donut. This year, families also explored the Wellness Festival featuring nearly 40 local vendors.

The day wrapped up with the awards ceremony. Congratulations to the top finishers and all who participated.
