For Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, residents, and friends gathered at Skye Center as Skye Canyon presented a $5,000 donation to Project 150. The Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization provides support and services for at-risk high school students so they can remain in school, graduate, and build a bright future. The donation was a part of Skye Canyon’s Skye Serves initiative; funds will help to provide teens with food, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and college scholarships.

As the temperature drops, what has been top of mind is how having the right winter clothing can give the teens Project 150 serves greater peace of mind and, therefore, a higher shot at success in school. So, this year’s gift to Project 150 was more than cash; it was also warm winter clothing.

For the second year in a row, Skye Canyon joined forces with Skye Pass partner Lee Canyon for its Spread the Warmth coat and beanie drive that also benefits  Project 150. This year’s effort brought in 140 winter coats and more than 50 beanies.

Spread the Warmth kicked off at the Pray for Snow party, Skye Canyon’s annual pep rally for winter that also serves as Lee Canyon’s annual season pass pick event. The party was hosted at Skye Center on Saturday, Nov. 2, and partygoers filled the collection bin with donations of coats and beanies. The coat and beanie drive ran through Friday, Nov. 29 and at Skye Center 120 coats were collected! (Way to go Skye Canyon!) Other partner locations included REI Boca Park, Powder & Sun, and Burton Snowboards Outlet Store in DTLV.

For Skye Canyon, the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season is by supporting local nonprofits who work hard year-round. Stay tuned for more Skye Serves events in 2020 by connecting with Skye Canyon on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter
