Home / Blog / Residents Name Two New Parks Coming to Skye Canyon this Fall

Further proving that Skye Canyon is not only home to plenty of expansive outdoor recreation and green spaces but is also home to some of the most creative people, two parks that are set to debut in Fall 2021 were recently each named by Skye Canyon residents.

The residents of Skye Canyon initially submitted over 50 possible name suggestions for the Phase 3 park set for Skye Park Dr. and Parkland Skye Circle. Ultimately, resident Christie Haro and family came up with the winning name of Big Skye Park. On track to open later this year, Big Skye Park will feature a spacious play field, tot lot, junior playground, gazebo, special dog park areas for both small and large dogs, a basketball court and plenty of green spaces. It will also offer a trail connecting to Grand Canyon Dr.

With so many great options to choose from, the Skye Canyon Board decided the runner up’s name suggestion would be used for the second park. Named by residents Moriah and Daniel Cohen, Star Light Park is perfectly situated just off Skye Village Road. This new park will feature something for everyone to stay active and enjoy an active lifestyle. Star Light Park will feature two playing fields, a shaded area, covered tot lot and a lit basketball court.

Thanks, and congratulations to our park naming residents who each received Amazon e-gift cards.

In addition to Star Light Park and Big Skye Park, Skye Canyon also features Eagle Canyon Park, Skye View Park, and the sprawling 15-acre Skye Canyon Park, the heartbeat of the neighborhood and home to many community events.
