The Fourth Annual Patriotic Car Parade held during Memorial Day Weekend at Skye Canyon was a memorable celebration and display of support. Hundreds of families and nearly two dozen decorated vehicles gathered to honor and remember the fallen heroes who served in the US military. This year, the event again supported the Kline Veterans Fund, a valued charitable partner in the community.

Families embraced the opportunity to showcase their creativity by adorning their vehicles with stars and stripes, streamers, balloons, homemade signs, and other patriotic decorations. The Memorial Day Patriotic Car Parade featured a remarkable assortment of vehicles, including classic cars, new cars, sports cars, trucks, and even family vans, all beautifully decorated in red, white, and blue.

Under the clear and sunny skies at Skye Canyon Park, residents united to enjoy the outdoors and exhibit their patriotic and community pride. A $10 donation secured a spot in the neighborhood parade, with all registration fees, raffle ticket sales, and face painting costs generously contributed to the Kline Veterans Fund. This valuable organization continues to make a profound impact by providing financial assistance and support to homeless, at-risk, and indigent veterans and their families in Southern Nevada. Ultimately, $2,200 was raised and donated to Kline Veterans Fund.

The day began with a touching display of patriotism as the Color Guard from American Legion Post 76 presented the colors, followed by an impassioned rendition of the national anthem performed by the talented vocalist, Journey Grasmick.

Introduced in 2020 as part of the thriving Skye Canyon community’s ongoing Thrive at Skye program, the parade was led by flag-waving representatives from the Kline Veterans Fund. Slowly traversing a three-mile route throughout the Skye Canyon neighborhoods, families gathered outside to wave and cheer as the parade passed by. Participants in the parade were delighted to receive a special commemorative Skye Canyon event pin, adding to their cherished collection.

Following the parade, families enjoyed the park, music, inflatable games, refreshing Kona Ice treats, and exciting giveaways. It was a day filled with community spirit, gratitude, and camaraderie, truly honoring the sacrifices made by our veterans.
