Home / Blog / Bring on Winter: It is time to Pray for Snow

With the most wonderful time of the year, ski and snowboard season, quickly approaching, it’s also time for what’s a longstanding tradition in ski towns: a celebration of all things winter and sending wishes to the “snow gods for an abundance of powder days. Once again, Skye Canyon is teaming up with its Skye Pass partner Lee Canyon to invite all lovers of cold weather and fresh snowfall to the 4th annual Pray for Snow Party. The family-friendly event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Festivities will include live music by locals’ favorite Rein, food, beverages, a vendor village, and giveaways for cool prizes like snow experience packages with lift tickets and rentals. This celebration also marks the final day of the pre-season rates for Lee Canyon’s 2019/20 season passes. Skiers and snowboarders who have previously purchased their season pass online for the upcoming season will be able to pick up the passes at the event. Of course, those who are living #TheSkyeLife, aka Skye Canyon residents, receive special pricing on Lee Canyon pass products, along with other benefits like those coveted Skye Canyon resident parking spots.

Maybe the best reason to attend Pray for Snow is to meet other Las Vegas locals who like you, unapologetically check the weather for incoming storms during the winter months. Skye Center will be filled with local skiers and snowboarders eager to enjoy the upcoming season. At Pray for Snow, old friends reconnect, and new friendships will be forged. Kids who can’t wait for Lee Canyon Lil’ Air contest find comradery. Adults, especially those who are new to Las Vegas, love meeting friends who share their passion for snow sports and a high-altitude happy hour.

Before Pray for Snow, be sure to make a sweep through your closet to help the more than 6,300 registered and non-registered homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students. Pray for Snow also kicks off Lee Canyon’s second annual Spread the Warmth winter coat and beanie drive, benefitting Project 150. Donations for new beanies or gently used winter coats will be accepted at Skye Center and other partners through Friday, Nov. 29. But don’t delay, because people who make a donation at Pray for Snow will be entered into a special giveaway! Additionally, as a part of its Skye Serves program, for every coat donated throughout the drive, Skye Canyon will contribute $25 to Project 150, up to $5,000.
