It turns out, having the right school supplies can be the dividing line between success and failure for kids in pursuit of an education, the best preparation for the future. Research shows that when kids don’t have the right school supplies, they are more likely to skip school, decreasing their chances for success at school. Skye Canyon is hosting a back-to-school supply drive benefitting Assistance League Las Vegas’ Operation School Bell, July 15 – 22, 2019.
It’s estimated that roughly 12,000 students in grades K – 12 in the greater Las Vegas area need of things like clothing and school supplies. Operation School Bell is a program offering at-risk youth access to these essential items. Donations can be dropped off at Skye Center (10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr.) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. As part of its Skye Serves program, Skye Canyon will match all donations. Supplies needed include:
backpacks | glue sticks | spiral notebooks |
scissors | loose leaf paper | small three-ring binders |
colored pencils | pencils | thumb drives |
composition books | pencil boxes/pouches | tissue boxes/packets |
crayons | pocket folders | unworn children’s sneakers |
calculators | rulers | erasers |
Make an outing out of it with friends! Everyone who makes a donation receives a voucher for a specialty Starbucks coffee from Skye Bistro, so you can enjoy coffee on the patio after dropping off your donation.
