LAS VEGAS Skye Canyon, the next generation master-planned community, welcomed more than 202 racers to its inaugural Skye Canyon 8K Trail Mix and 5K Road Race on Saturday, May 14, 2016. In the 8K race, Christine Biederer took first for the women with a time of 36:45 and Sergio Ibarra was the first male finisher with a time of 33:28. In the 5K, Emily Mangino took top honors for the women with a time of 23:28 and Philip King nabbed first for the men with a time of 19:39. (Race results are below)

A benefit for the Outside Las Vegas Foundation (OLVF), a non-profit organization whose mission is to connect people to Southern Nevada’s special outdoor places, 5K racers traveled through Skye Canyon’s neighborhoods including Century Communities, Pulte Homes and Woodside Homes. The event was also the launch of Skye Canyon’s “Fit Lives Here” event series. In the coming months, plans for the program include activities such as outdoor yoga, fitness classes and Q&A’s with prominent outdoor athletes that are free and open to the public.
