On Friday April 7th, Skye Canyon launched the Skye Serves program at an event partnering with the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation. Skye Serves is designed to empower our residents to support and serve the greater Las Vegas Valley through community events and initiatives and this event gave residents the opportunity to provide disadvantaged children with properly fitted shoes and socks, plus other basic necessities to make their daily lives better.
A group of Skye Canyon residents were out in force from 8:00am to help outfit students at a local elementary school with socks, shoes and backpacks. The staff from Goodie Two Shoes paired volunteers one-on-one with students to make the process of finding the right fitting shoes and backpacks fun and exciting.
“Goodie Two Shoes is on a powerful mission to help the youth in Las Vegas and it was incredible to see the Skye Serves community come together and show such strong support,” a volunteer commented.
By 12:30pm around 400 students were decked out in new kicks with everyone walking away with a smile.
“We had such a great time with the kids and loved having the chance to give back,” Skye Canyon resident Jackie Normandeau said. “It was a wonderful morning and a great cause.”
Skye Canyon is proud to support its residents in their wellbeing journeys and to empower every person to build a stronger and more active community. We are busy planning more Skye Serves events for the near future.
