“Fall” in love with all things artistic at Skye Canyon’s Chalktober Fest on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Skye Canyon Park. This year’s art festival celebrates the rising popularity of chalk art with a juried competition featuring 45 artists ranging from high school-age amateurs to professional artists, giving their artistic take on what lights them up about life in Las Vegas. International chalk art competitor and local artist Jay Schwartz will create this year’s live large-scale art piece.

A freestyle chalk art area with supplies has been designated for individuals of all ages and talents who feel inspired to create their own masterpiece.

Looking for something to brighten up the home or office? The art fair will feature more than 30 artists showcasing and selling artwork in an array of mediums.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a fall festival without pumpkins. Skye Canyon will be giving away 1,000 6- to 15-pound pumpkins to kids at the Pick-a-Pumpkin fundraiser to assist Create A Change Now, a local nonprofit committed to eradicating preventable childhood diseases. A $2 donation is suggested per pumpkin. Next stop – the pumpkin decorating station.

Food trucks, along with craft beer and wine offerings will also be available, and all proceeds from beer and wine sales will also benefit Create a Change Now.

Chalktober Fest gets better and better. Kids can also get their face painted, play in the bounce houses or on the giant slide. To capture the fun, an autumn-themed photo booth will be set up. Costumes are encouraged. Chalktober Fest is free and open from 2 to 6 p.m.
