Skye Canyon hosts a back-to-school supply drive benefitting Assistance League Las Vegas’ Operation School Bell program July 16-23, 2018. Operation School Bell supplies local at-risk students in grades K-12 with clothing items and school supplies. For this event, Skye Canyon will accept new school supplies and unworn children-sized sneakers. Donations can be dropped off at Skye Center (10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr.) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Donors will receive a voucher for a specialty Starbucks coffee from Skye Bistro. As part of its Skye Serves program, Skye Canyon will match all donations.

Assistance League Las Vegas is an all-volunteer organization that has served the Las Vegas community for over 40 years. They have over 400 members that volunteer over 48,000 hours per year to support local families with an emphasis on helping children in need. Operation School Bell, the nonprofit’s signature program allows K-12 students to “shop” for brand new clothing and other items needed for school.
“Donating school supplies may seem minuscule to the average person but it can make a world of difference to a child in need. Students without adequate necessities often skip school but when they receive the proper supplies it inspires them to strive academically,” said Desiree Van Leer, marketing manager of Olympia Companies, developer of Skye Canyon. “The generosity of individuals all over the Las Vegas Valley has helped Skye Canyon raise funds and essentials for many local nonprofits but more importantly raised awareness of the wonderful work they are doing in our community.”
Skye Serves is Skye Canyon’s philanthropic program for residents and non-residents to join efforts to support local nonprofit organizations. At each event, Skye Canyon matches donations raised dollar for dollar for local charities. In less than two years, the Skye Serves initiative has raised over $50,000 for 13 nonprofit partners including New Vista, Create a Change Now, and Opportunity Village.
